TACA holds monthly meetings in many locations throughout the United States that feature educational speakers on important topics and allow family members to connect with one another and stay on top of the latest information in the autism world. Each TACA group maintains a resource library of the latest autism books and DVDs/CDs that can be checked out by members at no charge.

MediCal, IHSS and Insurance: Navigating the System for Kids with Disabilities - A Parent’s Perspective Laureen Forman is a parent of a child with Hypotonic Cerebral Palsy and autism. Her son Brandon became a San Diego Regional Center client at the age of 6 months - he is now almost 7. Brandon is very affected by his disabilities and his needs for therapies are huge. Laureen has navigated the maze in order to get support for her son using what is available based upon his needs. She has been successful in getting and keeping therapeutic services from her different insurance companies - including ABA and would like to share her knowledge so that you can access your insurance to obtain services. In addition, now that our Regional Centers will push back for consumers to use Generic Services (MediCal and IHSS are considered generic services), it is especially important to know how to access MediCal and IHSS and what those services can provide for your child. |
